Introducing

Behind the Scenes with a WordPress Pro

Elementor Edition

Build a website + digital shop for products and services with Elementor in 45-ish days!

Heads up!

This is a previously held BTS & you're getting access to the raw BTS files before it becomes an Elementor course!

Okay, so here's the thing.

On my big list of things to-do I've been wanting to build demo sites with each of the major page builders.

These demo sites are meant for you to be able to:

  • surf the theme & see what each page builder is capable of.
  • be able to log into the back-end of WordPress to see which plugins are used.
  • add content and play with the page builder itself.
  • see a shop's full customer experience (ie. log in as a customer or a student, place a test order, etc.).

Once you get a feel for it, it'll be easier to:

  • decide which page builder is right for you, whether that's starting fresh or switching over.
  • see what's possible with what you can build with WordPress
  • see the plugin tech stack to achieve the same/similar goal.
  • experiment and play before you make any major changes or decisions to your own site.

But then I thought...

What if you could see the entire process! 😮

From start to finish, you'll be able to see when I first install a brand new builder, how I build a new page, install a plugin — to see and, hopefully, experience all of it behind the scenes and all the in-between things you might not even think to ask.

So, how is this going to work? 🤔

Full transparency — I'm going to be workshopping this as I go and I'm inviting you to come along to do it with me.

Here's the general idea.

👩🏻‍💻

Follow along in a Google Document daily as I create a brand new site. See what I do each day to launch a site in 45-ish days.

🧠

You can leave comments, ask questions and generally pick my brain as we go along in this experiment.

🖥️

You get exclusive access to preview the site in progress. Documentation would include screenshots and videos.

Why a behind-the-scenes?

If you're like me, I learn a lot more when I get to see not just how someone does something, but why they decided to do it that way.

Putting together the how and the why helps me to digest and take away that information to make things work for me.

The goal of this behind-the-scenes WordPress experience is to help you understand what's possible with WordPress and how you can make it work for you in the smoothest way possible.

What do I get to see?

Basically, everything except for the actual installation of a WordPress site with a host provider.

You'll get to website design being completed from scratch — from a fresh install of a page builder to the full design and development process.

You'll also get to see why a plugin might be used over another.

It's like looking over my shoulder while I build but instead of sitting and watching for hours, you'll get the all important Coles' notes of it all.

Illustration of a person with a bun hairstyle using a laptop, looking at the screen displaying various icons and the time 17:15.

Plus, you'll probably see some of WordPress', ahem, little quirks and frustrations and how I navigate through it.

And maybe a rant or two. 😅

What are we working on this round?

We're going to be building out a website to sell digital products and services using Elementor.

You'll also see:

  • how to build your own custom theme and reusable blocks to save time.
  • the fundamental and repeatable process in designing a sales page.
  • different integrations such as email service platforms, using Zapier, TidyCal and others for a smooth customer experience.
  • how I use the Plugin Tracker Template to keep things documented so I know what I currently use, what I've tried and what doesn't work.
  • how I use the Simple Sales Flow Sales Tracker to keep track of order bumps, tripwires and all the links that go with it.
  • my plan — how I plan on tackling the project, the rough timelines and what I plan to do each day to try to get this thing done and dusted in roughly 30 days while working on/in my business and all the life things that happen.

Plus!

You'll be able to purchase the entire site at 75% off.

The entire site means the full installation — with all the plugins installed and setup along with the Plugin & Sales Flow Trackers completed. The Works.

You're not just getting a theme — you're getting the entire site.

But Michelle, I don't use Elementor.

I will be building demo sites for Divi, Beaver Builder, Thrive Themes and WordPress' native block editor. I only have two hands!

And plan to do a behind-the-scenes for those as well.

But if you've ever thought of switching, now's a great time to jump into this BTS round!

Will I get to access to this after the experiment as over?

That's the plan! A Word document is the easiest way for me to share but I do have plans to potentially add this into the course area so that it's easy access. But I'm not entirely sure what that will look like yet. But yes, you will have access to this content beyond the experiment!

Can I ask questions?

Yes, please! In the shared document you'll be able to comment, make suggestions of things you'd like to see, ask clarifying questions, or even what we can add to this BTS experiment for future rounds to make the experience richer and easier to learn.

This isn't, however, a giant tutorial, so I won't be making tutorial videos. You will, however, be seeing my process, decision-making, some tips and tricks and in that, you may see some simple how-to's!

Also, fun! Maybe with prizes?? If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. 😀

Will you be creating a membership site?

Not for this round. This will before a digital shop to sell digital services. I'm considering doing another round just for membership sites, but there are a lot of similarities and overlap between a digital shop and a membership site.

So if you're looking to get started with your membership now, it's still a good time to jump in!

Will you be able to finish this in 45-ish days?

Yes, you can build a WordPress shop in 45 days and you don't have to spend 8 hours a day doing it. But of course, life stuff gets in the way so we may go over the projected 30 days but we're going to approach this with a launch day!
